Early in 2013, I linked up with director Ivan Kraljevic whom I had color corrected a short for the previous year. We set out to shoot a short film that tackles some interesting topics while creating a vast, post-apocalyptic landscape around Los Angeles and its neighboring cities.
We filmed the whole movie in one day on the Red Epic, spent several months worth of evenings assembling the edit, and then color correction, score and sound design. Finally near the end of the year we submitted to a handful of festivals, and were recently nominated for both "Best Short Film" and "Best Cinematography" at the Action on Film Festival in Monrovia, CA.
Although we have already moved on to shooting a feature this summer, which is currently halfway through post-production, it's still an exciting nomination for me personally to get recognized for my work as cinematographer.
